DEMOCRAT JOHN ZARBANO FOR WISCONSIN'S 6TH DISTRICT
Our values are being ignored in Congress and we are not represented. Many people of Wisconsin's 6th CD feel the same way, and we decided to do something about it.
I live in Oshkosh. I am a husband, father, grandfather and a retired lawyer. Born in Omaha, I graduated from Creighton Preparatory High School and received my Bachelor and Master of Arts from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. In 1978, I graduated from the University of Tulsa, College of Law. I stayed in Tulsa to practice law. In 1994, Martindale-Hubbell rated me as AV - Preeminent, "The Highest Possible Peer Review Rating in Legal Ability and Ethical Standards," which I still hold today.
I met my wife, Merlaine, a native of Marinette, in Tulsa where she worked as a professional director, Artist in Residence for Oklahoma and Artistic Director at Theatre Tulsa. Merlaine and I returned to Wisconsin in 1998 to be near her parents.
For a substantial part of my legal career, I was a bank lawyer with experience in secured lending, real estate development, mergers, and bankruptcy litigation. After I retired from the practice of law, I landed a job as box office manager at UWO Theatre Department where my wife served as chair and professor. In addition, I enjoyed teaching Entertainment Law at UWO and Hospitality Law at Fox Valley Technical College.
We raised two sons. Nick lives with his wife, Beth, in OK with our grandchildren whose favorite place on the planet is Wisconsin Dells.
Anthony, our eldest, was diagnosed with brain cancer while in his second year of medical school. After three craniotomies and ten years of chemotherapy, he passed away.
In a time before the ACA, Anthony and I wrestled with the Social Security Administration and Oklahoma Medicaid to get requisite medical services.
I developed a healthcare plan which provides universal medical services without using tax dollars. Over the past 2 years, I worked with Wisconsin Republican legislators on my healthcare concept, Healthcare of Wisconsin,
By the way, the little girl with her hands folded in prayer in the "Immigration: Dignity and Due Process" black-and-white photograph on the home page is my mother on her First Communion Day.
